Hello. I have been lucky enough to work with Billy at the Edinburgh Judo Club for around 6 years. It is my job to look after all the admin and the day to day running of the club.I love my job and always look forward to going into the club. It’s a great place to be and everyone is really friendly. We have a great team of coaches and fantastic members both young and not so young.
I’ve been involved in Judo as a spectator from a very young age. I discovered I was not going to be a Judo Player many years ago. I stupidly invited my friend “Big Babs” to come along with me to Yoshin Judo Club in Newtongrange, after getting thrown around numerous times I decided I was better suited to Brownies!! (quite the opposite from Sarah – see her profile!)
I kept in touch with the sport by going along to watch Billy, my big brother, compete as much as possible, although I’ve been accused of only being interested in the other boys at these tournaments! I’m very proud of my family’s achievements in the sport, particularly when we all travelled to Barcelona in 1992 to watch Billy fight at the Olympic Games and then in Manchester in 2002 when my wee sister Karen won her Bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.
My sons, Patrick (8) and Jason (7), have been doing Judo at the club since they were aged 4 and 3 so I expect to continue spectating for many more years, that’s if I can bring myself to watch!!
I’m more that happy to help with any enquiries from new and existing members, just give me a call or pop in and see me at the Club.
Lorraine
