The second term of college was very successful!  I actually feel slightly clever. It’s weird. Also a great term with my schools teaching and not to mention a fantastic day at The Sportif Judo Comp where I was able to test out my mat side coaching skills.  I was lucky to have sat in the chair for players who are already very clever competitors anyway, which in turn made me look and feel like the real thing – ha ha!  It was honestly an amazing feeling and the day brought some great successes and players took big steps forward.  I just can’t wait to bring more kids onto the competitive mat alongside Big Lee and help to claim some more medals for our club!! Motherwell here we come!!!

Some of the hardest, rib cracking laughter was to be had over this recent Easter break down here at The Edinburgh Judo Club! The week was a blast, and I mean a blast on a cataclysmic scale!! First and foremost THANKS!! to all the kids who showed up day to day.  A massive shout out to each and everyone of you little chaps and chappettes that brought waves and waves of energy and managed to complete a whole day never mind the the whole week.  You are all stars.  You all made the fun INFINITE!! But as the days progressed the fun had taken a slight back seat as we found ourselves holding our heads, ears and faces from being melted off with the resounding screaming of four team names, which were as follows: The Spicy Chilli’s, The Crazy Chipmunks, The Tomato Faced Ninjas and The Donkey Kong’s (DK’s).  The moods were tense and competition was high!!  Points were flying onto the scoreboard.  With the arrival of the last day (sad faces everyone) we had kept the scores top secret until the absolute end, upon which the last points were earned in a deathly game of “Dodgey” with the big ball, which had myself and Euan (Mr Morse) chasing to splatter and scatter the players (kids and small children) with immense enjoyment, might I add, to see the final points onto the table!! The points were tallied up and the Teams had taken their places.  Joint 3rd going to the Spicey Chilli’s and The Donkey Kong’s.  Avery very close 2nd to The crazy Chipmunks, and we crowned the Easter Camp Champs to the TOMATO FACED NINJA’S!!!  It was emotional but I think hard to tell on some pretty tired faces.  However it was a success, and again couldn’t have been the same without the faces that showed up everyday.  Thanks to all mums and dads, but there is only one thing to do now……………….PLAN THE NEXT ONE!!! HAJIME!!!!!!!!!!”

Hello!! Welcome to Nicky’s News!

Summer has come and gone and thank goodness I haven’t got to build any more tents for another year!!!! College, judo and coaching have now begin and are in full swing! My first assessments has been done and dusted LAUGH.OUT.LOUD (I will let you know my marks anyway)!! So, I’ve been buzzing through my judo classes and now can’t help but give massive respect to ALL our judoka, from our tiny tots to our squads and adults. You guys are all proving yourselves massively, with your ever improving skills!  Well done to you all!!  With the Scottish open round the corner (where I’m looking to compete next), let’s hope I can keep up with you guys and put some good sessions in before hand, where I’m looking to get a better result than last year! Thanks everyone and I’ll catch you next month!!
